Indian Band Fillerin Gangnam, Seoul

The Indian band is a diagonal groove that runs across the front of the cheek, below the eye, where a ligament tethers the skin and the deep cheek fat beside it thins with age. It can make the mid-face look divided and tired. Indian band filler uses hyaluronic acid (HA) both to restore the deflated cheek beneath and to soften the band along its length, so the front cheek reads as one smooth surface. At QD Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, a session usually takes about 15–30 minutes with little downtime. (Results vary by individual.)

Indian band filler softens the diagonal groove across the front cheek.

Who it’s for

  • A diagonal band or groove across the front cheek below the eye
  • A mid-face that looks divided in two by the band
  • Deflated deep cheek fat that deepens the groove with age
  • Anyone wanting the front cheek to look like one smooth surface

The Indian band often appears together with the tear trough and front-cheek deflation, so it is planned as part of the mid-face rather than as a single line. Suitability is confirmed during consultation.

How it works

HA filler adds volume where it is placed and is gradually absorbed over time. For the Indian band, the doctor usually restores the deep medial cheek first — replacing the volume that has thinned under the ligament lifts and reduces the groove at its source — and then, if the band still shows, places very small amounts of a soft gel in the superficial layer along the line to smooth it, typically with a cannula. Working under and along the band together blends it into the cheek more naturally than filling the crease alone. HA can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed. (Results vary by individual.)

THE MECHANISM, STEP BY STEP

  • 01Water-holding volume

Hyaluronic acid binds water and adds soft volume, replacing the deep cheek fat that has thinned beside the tethering ligament.

  • 02Lift from below, then smooth

The deep medial cheek is revolumized first to lift the groove at its source; if the band still shows, very small amounts of a soft gel are placed superficially along the line, usually with a blunt cannula.

  • 03Immediate but temporary

Smoothing shows the same day because the gel fills the deflated base and cushions the band; over the following months the body gradually breaks the HA down, so the effect is not permanent.

  • 04Adjustable and reversible

Because it is HA, the result can be added to gradually, or dissolved with an enzyme (hyaluronidase) if an adjustment is ever needed.

Treatment areas

Deep medial cheek
The base under the band, revolumized to lift the groove from below.
The band itself
The diagonal line, smoothed with small superficial amounts if it remains.
Tear-trough junction
Where the band meets the under-eye, blended for a smooth transition.

What the procedure is like

  1. 1Consultation and assessment of the mid-face and band
  2. 2Cleansing, marking and topical numbing for comfort
  3. 3HA to revolumize the deep cheek and soften the band, usually by cannula
  4. 4Review of the surface and aftercare guidance

Time: A session usually takes about 15–30 minutes.

Recovery & aftercare

  • Little downtime; most people return to daily activities the same day.
  • Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising may occur and usually settles within about 1–2 weeks.
  • Avoid pressing or massaging the area, and skip saunas and intense exercise for a day or two as we advise.

What to expect over time

A general guide to how the days and months after treatment usually unfold. Results vary by individual.

  1. DAY 0 Treatment day

A smoother front cheek is visible immediately. Mild swelling, redness or tenderness is common, and the area can look fuller than the final result at first.

  2. DAY 1-3 Early settling

Most swelling eases and any bruising begins to fade. Makeup and normal skincare can usually resume as advised.

  3. WEEK 1-2 Settled result

Swelling resolves and the front cheek reads as one smooth surface. (Results vary by individual.)

  4. 12-18 MONTHS Duration

The deep cheek base often lasts around 12–18 months, while very superficial touch-ups along the band may last less, varying with the product and your metabolism. (Results vary by individual.)

  5. TOP-UP Review & maintenance

Your doctor reviews the result and, if appropriate, discusses timing for a top-up based on your mid-face.

Sessions & results

Smoothing appears right away and settles over about 1–2 weeks. The deep cheek base often lasts around 12–18 months, while very superficial touch-ups along the band may last less. A top-up is discussed at consultation. (Results vary by individual.)

How it compares

These all restore mid-face volume or smooth the groove, but they work in different ways and suit different goals. The right choice is decided after we assess the mid-face.

Safety & considerations

Possible reactions

  • Temporary swelling, redness or a feeling of fullness
  • Tenderness or bruising at the injection points
  • Small lumps or slight unevenness, which usually settle or can be smoothed
  • Very rarely, filler affecting a blood vessel — this needs prompt medical attention

When to take extra care

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding — let us know at consultation
  • Active skin infection, inflammation or a breakout in the treatment area
  • A known allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine
  • Previous filler, threads or surgery in the area — tell your doctor so placement can be planned
  • A bleeding tendency or blood-thinning medication — tell your doctor

Because the band lies in the mid-face near the under-eye, it is treated carefully and planned with the surrounding cheek during consultation. Effects and their duration vary by individual, and side effects may occur. We explain the warning signs — unusual pain, skin turning pale or dusky, or any change in vision — so you know to contact us promptly.

Your care at QD Clinic

  • Performed by a board-certified doctor

Your injection is performed and medically reviewed by a board-certified doctor.

  • Planned as the mid-face

The band is assessed together with the tear trough and front-cheek volume, not as a single line.

  • Reversible HA, built gradually

We use HA that can be dissolved if needed, and lift from below before smoothing rather than overfilling the line.

Often considered together

Treatments that are sometimes planned alongside this one, decided at consultation.

Front Cheek Filler

Restoring the deep cheek under the band is often planned together with front-cheek volume.

Side Cheek Filler

Outer-cheek support can balance the mid-face alongside softening the band.

Tear-trough treatment

Where the band meets the under-eye hollow, that junction may be addressed together; suitability is decided at consultation.
